Manufacturing

Instructions

Purpose

This procedure is used to create or edit Manufacturing Instructions. Manufacturing Instructions are “standard” notes that can be added to specifications. They print on work order dockets detailing what is required to complete the manufacturing process.

You can use a single instruction on one or more specifications to save having to type it into each spec. This makes on-going maintenance of the details much easier because when you want to change the instruction notes, you only need to change it in one place (using this function) and it will automatically be changed on every spec that refers to this instruction.

Some examples of the use of instructions are:

  • Machine set-up notes on how to jig/re-jig a machine for the processes required
  • Specific manufacturing process notes e.g. cutting, assembly, drilling or mixing instructions
  • Materials Handling & Safety details for workers, especially OH&S specifics
  • Packaging details, factory floor/warehouse storage tips, product finishing notes
