Products are at the heart of everything that happens in OA, but what are products? We use the term to generically cover an extensive range of uses within the system so that all the features and benefits of products are available to all the different types of products you can use. What are the different types of products supported you ask? Here’s a sample list:
- Sales Product – something you sell
- Finished Product – something you make and sell
- Sub-Assembly Product – something you make and use (and/or sell)
- Raw Material Product – something you use (and/or sell)
- Jobbing Product – something you make to customer needs and sell
- Packaging Product – something you put a finished product in (and/or sell)
- Imported Product – something you purchase from a foreign supplier and use/sell
- Local Product – something you purchase from a local supplier and use/sell
- Service Product – for selling/invoicing services
- Add-on Product -for selling/invoicing sundry charges
- Stock Product – something you keep on the shelf
- Non-Stock Product – something you buy/make when ordered

It really shows that products do play a major and varied role in all the activities of the Stock Distribution, Operations & Manufacturing systems that OA provides. Below is a schematic that provides a good visual summary of the structure of products within OA.
