Market segment code can be numeric or alpha.

Short Name
Enter a short name – up to 10 characters, to describe the market segment.
The short name is used on reports or screens where limited space is available.
Name
Enter the name of the customer market segment. This name is used where the market segment is selected.

Inactive
Select this option to set whether this customer market segment code is active or not. Inactive market segments may not be used on Customer Details or Sales Orders.
If you set a market segment to inactive, you can use the ‘where used’ view to find any customers that are assigned to the market segment that may need to be moved to another market segement.
