Purpose
This procedure is used to create or modify Manufacturing Sites. The main purpose of the optional Site setting in the Manufacturing processing is the ability to allocate production Work Orders to a specific site from the list of available sites you create on the system. A Site “sits” within a Stock Location, and can be used for either a physical or logical section of that Stock Location.
For example, a Site could be a physical area of the factory at a location, to help distinguish it from work orders allocated to other areas with the factory. Alternatively a Site might be a “Logical” breakdown, to help show different Departments or Teams that operate in the factory. If you have no requirement for such a separation of Work Orders by Site then the creation and use of Sites here is completely optional.
If you intend to use Sites then you will note that a list of Load Centres is kept per site as part of this function. See related topic on Load Centres for more details on their purpose.
The term ‘Site’ is configurable. See related topic: Manufacturing Details for more. A Site defines the physical location where a specification is manufactured.

Step 2 – Description
Site Name
Enter a name for the site.
For more details on descriptions, see The Role of “Names & Descriptions” in Online Advantage
Location Code
Enter the location code of this site.
Order/Batch Prefix
Optionally enter a code to represent the order or batch prefix. If set here, this prefix will be used to over-ride the User Prefix allocated to new Work Orders when created. This makes it easy to users in the factory and system users to differentiate Work Orders if the Prefix allocated gives them a clear indication of what Site (area/department/section/team) the Work Order has been allocated too.
