Purpose
This function is used to transfer stock from one ‘Bin’ to another, within the same Stock Location. The stock location selected must be using Multi-Bin tracking (Bin Tracking Code ‘3’) in order to use this bin transfer facility. Please refer to Bin Tracking Options for more details.
This function provides the ability to keep track of shelf location changes in your warehouse where stock is re-arranged into other physical position after a receipt of purchased/manufactured items. If a bin transfer is not completed when bin tracked items are moved the system will potentially be suggesting bin location positions on Picking Dockets and Work Order material lists that are misleading, therefore wasting time for warehouse staff when looking for inventory items.
The ‘UNKNOWN’ bin
For sales or issues where the bin location was not known at the time of transaction entry, the user may have entered the reserved bin word ‘UNKNOWN’. If you are using Bin Transfers to adjust that, you cannot adjust negative stock.
Note: If you are wanting to move inventory items from one stock location to another you should use the ‘Stock Transfer’ functions.
Data Input
Step 1 – Location Code

Step 2 – Reference Details
Reference
Enter the relevant number (docket number/transaction number) to be used to record this Bin transfer transaction. You have up to 12 characters to enter manually.
You may also choose to let the system automatically generate a reference number by allocating the next reference number in the sequence by selecting the “Next” option. Sequential references numbers are allocated based on the details set up for Document Prefixes.

Step 3 – Bin Transfer Details
Products to be transferred are entered in the form of a list, with details of each product on a separate line (row) of the list. Click Add to add transfer details.
Product
Enter an existing ‘Product’ for which you want to complete a bin transfer. The product must be a valid stock item i.e. it cannot be a ‘Service’ or ‘Add-On’ charge product.
Note that once a product is entered/selected, if appropriate the user is prompted to select a Size and/or Colour. This assumes these features are turned on in the Product Format function and that the product itself is sized/coloured.
Transfer Quantity
Enter the quantity of the stock item to be transferred to another bin i.e. the amount of the product being moved from one bin to another.
Note: You have the option of entering the quantity in either Stock or Purchase units, or a combination of the two assuming the product has them defined. Please refer to Quantity Input for more details on entering quantities.
From Bin
Enter the ‘Bin’ the stock is being transferred ‘From’. The ‘Bin’ must have been previously defined as a valid bin for the stock location selected, via the Bins function. If a bin has been set up for use with specific product(s), you may only choose that bin for the transfer if the product you have selected is found on that predefined list of valid products.
To Bin
Enter the ‘Bin’ the stock will be transferred ‘To’. The ‘Bin’ must have been previously defined as a valid bin for the stock location selected via the Bins function and must be different to the ‘From Bin’. If a bin has been set up for use with specific product(s), you may only choose that bin for transfer if the product you have selected is found on that predefined list of valid products.
