Upload Customer Products

Purpose

This routine can be used to upload Customer Product details from a file created outside of the system for existing Customers and Products. Customer Product information is used in Order Processing and e-Commerce to show the customer’s product information i.e. product ID and description. This is an alternative way of entering these details and is useful where you are updating large volumes of new data. Using this method a “spread-sheet” style tool can be used to create a list of customer products you want with the product/colour details as needed.

You can use the Download Customer Products function to extract a spreadsheet of existing customer products. This can be used as a template for the upload.

Step 1 – Upload File

Upload File

Find and select the spreadsheet file you wish to upload, by clicking ‘Browse’. This assumes you have access to the file with the customer product details from the browser that you are currently using.

Step 2 – Verify File Details

The new customer product details of the spread sheet are displayed so that you can review the data and confirm that the correct file has been uploaded before you continue.

Click Submit to submit all the details.

Spread sheet format

The spread sheet must be in a csv format.

The first row of the spread sheet must be a heading row – it does not matter what the headings are, as long as they are meaningful to you e.g. you could have ‘Product’, ‘Product Code’ or ‘SKU’.

The columns required are:

Column Name Additional Details
A Customer Code Must be a valid customer on the Customer Master file
B Product Code Must be a valid product on the Product Master file
C Size Code Must be a valid size on the Sizes Master file, and must be a valid size for the product
D Colour Code Must be a valid colour on the Colours Master file, and must be a valid colour for the product
E Customer Product Identifier Optional. Enter up to 10 characters for the customer’s product code that corresponds to your product
F Customer Description Optional. Enter the description the customer prefers for the product. Up to 20 characters is allowed
G Exclude from e-Commerce flag Optional. Enter ‘Y’ if the product/size/colour is to be excluded from appearing in the customer’s e-Commerce portal
H Exclude Size from e-Commerce flag Optional. Enter ‘Y’ if the product/size is to be excluded from appearing in the customer’s e-Commerce portal

Updating

Once you click submit, the rows on the spread sheet are validated.
If no invalid data is detected, the database is updated with the details.
